Introduction to my Newsletter

Welcome

Hello!

I am starting a newsletter.

Who I am: my name is Kyle Cole, and I started an eCommerce Journal business called The Hero’s Journal back in 2018. We have grown to $8,000,000 in lifetime revenue and have sent out over 100,000 orders. As of this year, I have also started another venture with a business partner called Life Atypical.

I have been going back and forth on this for a long time. But for the purpose of this particular newsletter, I am going to go through some of the things that I hope to accomplish with this newsletter.

I love to teach and coach. Over the past few years, I had the opportunity to teach two college-level courses and coach both high school and collegiate cross-country teams. During that time I had the chance to talk to students about business, their goals, and life as a whole and it is one of my true motivators as a human. So, I want to use this as a chance to share some of the things that I am learning and experiencing to hopefully allow others to learn from my experience.

I am a verbal processor. Creating a routine of reflecting on lessons I have learned or thinking through current issues in my business will help my business. The likelihood is that this newsletter will never result in any financial gain, but that doesn’t mean it can’t help me better process obstacles and solutions.

Create a platform. As far as entrepreneurship is concerned, I have a pretty unique path. I knew nothing when I came into this. I didn’t go to a highfalutin university; I didn’t start this with a big nest egg. This business started because two friends decided it would be fun to make a nerdy journal as a side project after work. Actually, the more I think about it my story may be the most normal one out there and I want to be able to bring any light I can to those stories that aren’t what we traditionally think of as success. There are plenty of unicorns, I want to talk about coffee shop owners, brand owners, and content creators who are doing it because they think it should exist not because there is the promise of a future billion-dollar valuation.

I want to tell my story. The last reason is I just want to tell my story. As I said before, I am a verbal processor and I am trying to learn from what I have already done by recounting some of the biggest challenges that we have faced, some of the successes, and other random events that have popped up over the last 6 and a half years.

If this is something that floats your boat, wonderful. If not, no worries, I don’t have to pay for this platform until I have 2,500 subscribers.

The next newsletter will have more actual information in it.

Toodles,

Kyle
